NYC Theatre Community's Space Needs Addressed by New Online Resource: nycTheatreSpaces.org

March 14, 2007

(New York, N.Y.) — NYC Performing Arts Spaces announces the launch of nycTheatreSpaces.org, the free online resource of New York City rehearsal and performance spaces suitable for actors, playwrights, directors, producers and theatre companies.

Plays, musicals, literary readings, sketch comedy and other theatrical performances can be accommodated by the many rentable spaces — large and small — in NYC Theatre Spaces' extensive database. Users can also search for spaces appropriate for auditions, film and photo shoots, special events and parties.

The nycTheatreSpaces.org website is interactive, enabling users to find theatre-appropriate space based on the criteria they choose: desired rental rate, size of rehearsal/performance space, and New York borough or neighborhood. Search results provide a list of "matches." Details about each space, such as included amenities and closest public transportation, make comparisons easy. Contact information is provided so that users may arrange to visit a space or check availability.

NYC Theatre Spaces is a program of nonprofit NYC Performing Arts Spaces, and follows the success of its other two free resources, NYC Music Spaces and NYC Dance Spaces. It was developed in consultation with a broad representation of New York City's theatre community and potential listing facilities. The Alliance of Resident Theatres/New York (A.R.T./New York) is the strategic partner for this project.
